Today is D-day for me. sort of. I've been hired on, I'm now a full time, blue badge, completely sold-my-soul, 100% employee of microsoft. But today is "new employee orientation" which seems a little odd since I've already worked there for 5 years. I want to bring my mp3 player or gameboy or something and treat it just like a college lecture (hmm, wonder why I took 6 years to graduate) but something tells me that the "class size" isn't going to be that big. It's business casual for dress and I have the deep desire to wear my worst T-shirt there just to punish all of the other new hires for working in places like marketing. I'm cruel like that :)
Lots of other random crap but for some reason the little semi-haiku that keeps sticking in my mind - in terms of stuff that's happened - is "I've now been pecked in the eye by a bird of paradise". Which then causes my mind to instantly screem "BIZZZZIRDS" (a bizzare reference to a magic card). The haiku bit is from reading the cryptonomicron.
That's most of everything. Other little things but I need to get in the habbit of writing again because I haven't even though there have been things to write about. I've got all of the duffman pictures I think I'm going to get - 6 new contestants - and I still have to write up Doc Ock. Honestly though, I'm kind of waiting to see how Rob of Cockeyed.com"'s writeup turns out.
I think my brain is in random overdrive mode now. Normally I'd try and tone it down so I could go to work, but it's kind of fun and I don't have to do squat today :)
If anyone comments on this random blathering I'll promise to eat a bug. A big one. with a dozen legs and 6 wings.
So the election happened, and my feelings on the national level can be summed up with the sarcastic comment of one of my rooomates, "God bless Emporer Bush". Schmuck.
But Good lord, what's happened to my state? Washington used to be a place you could count on to value education higher than nearly anything else. What, two years ago - maybe four - we voted to pass three bills increasing funding at the cost of roads. No no, don't fix those pot holes, make sure jimmy can read first. That's a good state.
And yet I-884 goes down in flames. 1% sales tax increase to raise about a billion dollars for education. How is that a bad thing? It doesn't affect the cost of food, and gas would go from 2.15 to 2.16 a gallon. Don't want to be affected by it beyond that? Don't buy shit. I mean, come on.
Alright. Okay. Blood pressure lowering.
A mixed bag otherwise. Mostly good measure wise, govoner up in the air, and a mistake as far as I'm concerned for federal representative. At least now all of the political ads will be off the air.
Halloween's over, it's november and that means a couple of things. Election day is two days away so the scariest part of the year hasn't quite happened yet. If you live in the US vote for the love of all that's shiney! Anyway.
It also means the anual massive spike in bandwidth for the site is over. just shy of 600,000 hits this year, not too shabby :)

I want to add the ability to name pictures, have my friends upload new ones and leave comments. not too hard, just takes time.
"whirl" reminds me - I got to try and explain what a whirling dervish was yesterday. I said it was just kind of a chaotic thing that destroys or devours everything in it's path. They asked, "yeah, but why is it called a 'whirling dirvish'". I said it was whirling because everything was just kind of flung about in all directions and it was a dirvish because... um... that's what the name of the Magic card is?? So what the heck is a 'dirvish'? can you have a non-whirling kind? Beware! Here comes the shuffling dervish.
